OCR, City&Guilds and NOCN.
Does your child struggle in school?
Have you tried many school's and education settings that haven't worked for your child?
Does your child have an EHCP?
Does your child love working outside, being with animals and/or building things?
Is your child aged 11 - 17 years?
Then the Agricultural and Rural Centre could be the perfect establishment for your child.
We are a centre that have been established 15 years and during that time have supported over 100 children and young people to access education through our therapeutic support. We have over 90 farming animals, including alpaca's, horses, goats and even Rhea that work with our specially qualified teachers, educational psychologist, SENDCO and animal therapists who all enable our learners, to develop their emotional, physical and intellectual needs. We believe that young people should enjoy their education offer and be positively encouraged to achieve their full potential and complete appropriate qualifications to establish their future career.
Our learners are offered a broad and balanced curriculum with the opportunity to complete Entry Level Certificates, Diploma's and GCSE qualifications.
Our unique Education Approach
The Agricultural and Rural Centre CIC believe that young people achieve most when they love what they are doing. To do this, our staff all have specialist therapeutic training called PACE training, our curriculum is specially created to encourage growth and development from the learners' starting point with us and our environment is specially built to provide a calm, enjoyable and enriched experience. Our aim is to foster ambition and passion in our learners through our unique therapeutic approach to learning.
Who benefits from us?
The ARC is a fantastic success story for most young people who are looked after, have experienced abuse or trauma, present with Autism, ADHD and/or Social, emotional and Mental Health needs, including anxiety, communication and social struggles and those with a poor history of school attendance caused by the above. All learners who attend the Agricultural and Rural Centre must love animals or working outside on the land.
We have 30 full-time places available in 2024 for year 7 to year 12 pupils.
If you would like your child to be considered for a place then see our
Apply Now page for application details.
"The ARC is the best place in the world and the staff are all like my family.
I want to work there when I am older."
We did it
I am so proud to announce that the Agricultural and Rural Centre is now Ofsted Registered and ready to admit full time learners in the academic year of 2024 - 2025.
As the new headteacher, I am excited to lead the centre to a new venture which will develop an innovative approach to learning.
