Our Curriculum


We believe that our pupils deserve a curriculum that expands their life chances and enables social equality and mobility.   Our curriculum is designed to ensure that every pupil is supported to overcome their emotional barriers to learning to enable them to reach their best potential regardless of ability, gender, ethnic origin, special educational need, or social background.  

We intend our pupils to learn in a school that encompasses a therapeutic environment that is rich with sensory stimulae that allows pupils to learn both in the classroom and working outside with our animals and on the land.   Our curriculum aims to engage pupils by fostering a love for learning and a thirst for academic development.


ENGLISH 

All pupils have four hours of English each week which is supported by additional our guided reading scheme and literacy intervention as required.  Pupils prepare for Entry Level Certificate, Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications.

MATHEMATICS

All pupils require four hours of maths learning per week in readiness for Entry Level Certificate, Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications.   Pupils also study Outdoor mathematics.

All pupils take part in a range of indoor and outdoor physical education which includes swimming, rock climbing, horse riding and cycling in readiness for Entry level certification.

HISTORY

Agricultural and Rural Centre have introduced History into our curriculum as we believe that it  empower learners to become critical and curious communicators.

ART AND DESIGN

Our art and design program ensures that all pupils can create work, explore ideas, document experiences, and become skilled in drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art, craft, and design techniques.

At the Agricultural and Rural Centre CIC, our aim is deepen the pupils growing knowledge about the world , the interaction between physical and human processes, landscapes and environments.

PSHE AND RS

The Agricultural and Rural  Centre are committed to the teaching of RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) at a level which is appropriate to the age and stage of development of our children.

Religious education is an essential part of education for students as it opens their minds to different beliefs and mindsets that different people and cultures have around the world.

COMPUTING AND ICT

All pupils gain experience in modern day technology, including computing. learning is  through discreet computing lessons as well a cross curricular opportunities.

Our  popular bespoke Agricultural and horticultural studies enables our pupils to gain Awards, Certificates and diploma's in a range of animal studies and land based studies.

All pupils are given the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in cooking through our food course.  Pupils enjoy this as part of our Design and Technology scheme.
